Our Surgical Team Puts You First

Holland Hospital’s highly skilled surgeons, along with our experienced surgical team, are dedicated to putting you first, giving you their undivided attention. We will always make time to listen to your concerns and answer your questions.

Holland Hospital Surgical Services incorporates the expertise of:

  • General surgeons who perform a wide variety of surgeries, from appendectomies and gallbladder removal to hernia repair and endoscopic procedures.
  • Surgical specialists including breast surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, plastic surgeons and neurosurgeons who specialize in the brain, spine and nerves.
  • Anesthesiologists who are responsible for the safety and wellbeing of patients during and after surgery through appropriate pain management (i.e., through the use of general anesthesia, regional anesthesia and sedation).
  • Nurses who have additional training in surgical care and will assist you throughout your stay with us.
  • Hospitalists who specialize in delivering care to patients while they are hospitalized. Hospitalists are doctors who oversee and direct your care throughout your hospital stay and work closely with your primary care physician, keeping him or her abreast of your condition and progress.

Outpatient and Inpatient Surgery

Outpatient surgery typically allows a person to return home the same day of the procedure. Performed at two locations—Holland Hospital and the Holland Hospital Surgery Center (on the north side of Holland)—outpatient surgery is designed for patients who need less-complicated procedures, such as ear, nose and throat surgeries, as well as some general urologic and orthopedic surgeries.

Inpatient surgery includes abdominal surgery, knee or hip replacements and other complex surgeries where patients require an overnight hospital stay (or longer), more extensive monitoring post-procedure and a longer recovery period.

Lakeshore Leader in Robotic Technology

Robotic technology is transforming surgery today – right here at Holland Hospital.
Our expert surgical teams offer advanced minimally invasive robotic-assisted surgery to provide improved outcomes, less pain and faster recovery than traditional surgery.

Holland Hospital leads in Michigan with these three advanced technologies:

  • Mazor X™ Stealth Edition
Patients who require spine fusion may be candidates for Mazor X which is used by specially trained surgeons to develop a personalized 3D surgical plan and perform surgery through micro incisions with unmatched precision.
  • Mako® Robotic-Arm Assisted Technology
Those who need partial or total knee joint replacement may benefit from Mako which is used to customize surgery to the patient’s unique anatomy, remove only the damaged part of the knee and ensure precise alignment for greater comfort.
  • da Vinci® Xi Surgical System
Many complex surgeries can be performed using the da Vinci Xi Surgical System including bariatric, cardiac, urological, gynecological and general surgeries. The daVinci’s robotic technology allows skilled surgeons to operate with extreme accuracy though tiny incisions, or sometimes through the navel, resulting in less pain and quicker recovery.

Robotic-assisted surgery can offer important advantages over traditional surgery. Our experienced surgical experts will work with you and your physician to determine what is best for you.
