Urgent Care Services Expanding; Same Location, Different Building

Mon, Dec 29, 2014
Holland Hospital’s Urgent Care services, located on the Lakeshore Medical Campus (LMC) near Riley Street on Holland’s north side, will relocate in early January to a larger space on the same campus.

Urgent care patients will be seen at the current location in Building A until 10 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6. Overnight, the services will be moved a short distance to Building B where patients will be seen beginning at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7.

“Our new space increases our number of patient treatment rooms from twelve to fifteen, with the potential for future expansion up to eighteen rooms,” explains Joe Bonello, Director of Emergency and Urgent Care Services. “We will treat over 30,000 patients at Urgent Care - LMC by the end of this year.  Our new location will allow us to provide care more comfortably and efficiently.”
Holland Hospital first began offering urgent care services at LMC in 2001 and treated just over 6,000 patients in the first year. The number of patients has grown steadily since then, according to Bonello.

Brian Cote, MD, Urgent Care program medical director, says the new location was renovated specifically to meet patient expectations. “The new location was redesigned to enhance the patient experience,” Cote explains. “We adopted the ‘fishbowl’ best-practice model that is used in the hospital’s emergency department with a centralized nursing station surrounded by the exam rooms, allowing for efficient workflow and patient monitoring.”

Urgent care services will continue to be available at the LMC location daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.  Common illnesses and injuries seen at urgent care include fever, cold, cough or flu; bruises, abrasions and minor cuts; respiratory infections/allergies; minor burns, sprains or strains; ear, eye or skin infections; urinary tract infections; and work or sports injuries.
