Partnership Focuses on Convenience for Heart & Vascular Care
Holland - The long-standing relationship between Holland Hospital and the West Michigan Heart cardiology group is taking a major step forward. The cardiology practice, part of Spectrum Health Heart & Vascular services, will relocate from its current location on South Washington Avenue in Holland to Holland Hospital’s main campus. The move is expected to take place in May of 2014 when the hospital completes construction of a new medical office building.
“Looking at the specific needs of our heart patients, and the expertise available through Spectrum Health’s Heart and Vascular program, this partnership will help ensure the continuation of convenient, local access to exceptional cardiovascular care,” says William A. Frauenheim, MD, cardiologist with West Michigan Heart. “Working together, Holland Hospital staff and the Spectrum Health cardiologists can provide the most rapid, efficient and effective care for heart attack patients, treatment of cardiovascular disease, and cardiac rehabilitation.”
Construction of the single story structure is expected to begin April 29 and be completed in May, 2014. Under the partnership agreement with Spectrum Health Heart & Vascular, the cardiology practice would occupy approximately 9,300 square feet of the new 33,000 square foot building.
The partnership with Spectrum Health Heart & Vascular does not have a bearing on Holland Hospital’s status as an independent west Michigan hospital. “We need to be clear that Holland Hospital will continue to be an independent hospital with a mission of serving the medical needs of residents in Ottawa and Allegan counties,” explains Holland Hospital President and CEO, Dale Sowders. “This partnership will help us achieve that mission by ensuring that our patients have access to the best cardiovascular expertise and services in our region.”
