More than 410 pounds of unused or unwanted prescription medications were collected during Medication Take Back events throughout Ottawa County on Saturday, October 27. Participating locations included, Holland Hospital, Ottawa County Public Health and Walgreens. Holland Hospital collected 111 pounds, making it the largest drop-off site of the participating locations.
“The Medication Take Back Event was a team effort and we are pleased to have been a part of it,” said Marc Lewis, Holland Hospital Pharmacy Services Manager. “Events like this not only keep unwanted medications out of our community and waterways, but also educate and provide valuable resources for those struggling with addiction.”
Holland Hospital would like to thank Ottawa County, Hope College, the Holland Police Department and the Michigan Opioid Prescribing Engagement Network (OPEN) for their efforts in helping keep our community safe.
