Tue, Oct 23, 2012

Holland Hospital’s Joint Replacement Center today received the 2013 Joint Replacement Excellence Award from Healthgrades®, a leading provider of information to help consumers make informed decisions about physicians and hospitals.  The award was announced in the American Hospital Quality Outcomes 2013: Healthgrades Report to the Nation in which the performances of approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide were evaluated across nearly 30 of the most common conditions and procedures.

"This designation has been achieved through a very deliberate and focused effort by Holland Hospital to develop a joint replacement program which delivers the very highest quality, service, outcomes, and patient satisfaction,” explains Patti Van Dort, Vice President of Nursing/Chief Nurse Officer at Holland Hospital.  “Our joint replacement ‘Destination Center’ summarizes the aim of this effort, and through the commitment and expertise of Holland surgeons, clinical staff and leadership, our program has indeed achieved this ambitious goal.  Our community now benefits from world class care in Holland, as do the patients from elsewhere in Michigan and the country that travel considerable distances to access this outstanding program.”

In addition to the Joint Replacement Excellence Award, Holland Hospital was also named a Healthgrades Five-Star Recipient for overall orthopedic services, spine surgery, total knee replacement, total hip replacement, and back and neck surgery.

Healthgrades independently measures hospitals based on data that hospitals submit to the federal government.  Healthgrades bases its objective measures solely on clinical performances by analyzing nearly 40 million Medicare hospitalization records.  No hospital can opt in or out of the analysis, and no hospital pays to be measured.
