Holland Hospital on Healthgrades’ 100 Best Hospitals List

Tue, Feb 19, 2013

Holland Hospital announced today that it has achieved a place on Healthgrades America’s 100 Best hospitals list.  To be recognized with this distinction, hospitals must have had risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates that were among the lowest 5% in the nation for a minimum of four years.

“We are delighted to add this exciting distinction to the list of accolades earned in our pursuit of clinical quality excellence,” said Dale Sowders, Holland Hospital President and CEO.  “Congratulations to our physicians, staff, volunteers, and leaders whose commitment to excellence brings world-class health care to our patients each and every day.”

Healthgrades, the leading online resource that helps consumers search, evaluate, compare and connect with physicians and hospitals, evaluated nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide based on objective measures of clinical performance.  No hospital can opt-in or opt-out of being evaluated, and no hospital pays to be evaluated.

“Hospitals earn this distinction by providing better than expected outcomes across a broad spectrum of conditions and procedures over an extended period of time,” said Evan Marks, EVP Informatics and Strategy. “Consumers can expect a commitment to exceptional clinical quality care when selecting among Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospitals.”

Holland Hospital serves the health care needs of the greater Holland area and surrounding communities in Ottawa and Allegan counties with a 189-bed main campus and numerous off-site locations.  The hospital medical staff includes more than 300 primary care and specialty physicians with support from 2,000 hospital employees. Holland Hospital has been ranked among the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals by Thomson Reuters for seven consecutive years and has received ISO 9001:2008 certification by DNV Healthcare.
