Holland Hospital Celebrates Centennial

Mon, Jan 16, 2017

Holland, MI-- In 1917, Holland Hospital first opened its doors in order to create local access to health care. From a house-turned-hospital at the corner of 12th and Central in downtown Holland to a now nationally recognized organization in many locations, Holland Hospital is proud to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2017 with an ongoing commitment to improve health in the communities it serves.

“Our 100 year journey toward a healthier lakeshore community has been one of commitment, care and progress,” reflects Dale Sowders, hospital President and CEO. “Holland Hospital is so much more than state-of-the-art facilities and leading edge technology; it is the sum of human effort--employees, medical staff, volunteers and donors--all working toward the common goal of assuring excellent care.”

The hospital is planning a series of upcoming observances and events under the theme “A New Century of Caring” beginning in January and running throughout the year. “We invite the whole community to join us in celebrating this milestone,” states Sowders. “Our centennial is a time to say ‘thank you’ to the many thousands of patients, staff members, physicians, and all others who have been a part of this rich history.”

The community is invited to an old-fashioned picnic and ice cream social in Centennial Park Saturday, June 17 from 10 am – 2 pm. For more information and to share memorabilia, photographs or fond memories contact Holland Hospital via the link on the right or call (616) 494-4110.
