Annual Employee Campaign Benefits Jefferson School Students

HOLLAND – Holland Hospital employees stepped forward with their hearts and wallets during this year’s annual employee giving campaign.   A total of $67,850 was raised during a six week period in late summer.  The dollars help fund the hospital’s School Nursing program at Jefferson School in Holland.

“The school nurse program is critical to the safety and health of our student population,” explains Jefferson Elementary 1st grade teacher, Carrie Homkes.  “We have many students on medication, many who do not receive adequate care from their home, and many who need attention on a daily basis for incidental injuries. I can not imagine our school without our nurses.”

In addition to Jefferson School, the hospital’s School Nursing program also cares for students at ten locations within the Holland and West Ottawa school districts, the Fennville Public Schools, and provides a nurse consultant in Hamilton Community Schools and Holland Christian Schools.

“I want to personally thank the 438 employees who donated to the campaign,” said Colleen Perdok, Fund Development Coordinator at Holland Hospital. “When we pool our resources, great things can be accomplished—like ensuring that our local children have health care and health education while they are at school.  Every contribution makes a difference.”
