Latest campaign to benefit 40-50 patients per week

HOLLAND, Mich., Dec. 18, 2024 — For nearly four decades, Holland Hospital Volunteer Council’s Lights of Love campaign has illuminated the path to enhanced patient comfort. This year, the campaign is shining a spotlight on the importance of early mobilization and patient safety by supporting the purchase of a new power-driven mobile lift.

By honoring a loved one's memory or paying tribute to someone special, donors can make a meaningful contribution and enhance patient care at Holland Hospital. The funds raised will equip Holland Hospital’s Inpatient Rehab team with a versatile tool that will benefit patients across the hospital, including those in the Emergency Department.

This innovative lift will aid in early mobilization, patient transfers, and floor recoveries, significantly reducing the risk of injury for both patients and staff. It is estimated to benefit approximately 40-50 patients per week, nearly 2,600 patients annually.

“We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of our community through the nearly 40 years since the Lights of Love campaign began,” said Megan Cadle, lead volunteer coordinator at Holland Hospital. “This year’s campaign will make a tangible difference in the lives of our patients, enabling them to recover more quickly and safely.”
Since its inception, over $560,000 has been raised through the Lights of Love campaign, benefitting various departments and services throughout the hospital, including most recently, in 2023, supporting newborns in Boven Birth Center with the purchase of the new Bilisoft™ Phototherapy blanket, which treats infants diagnosed with jaundice with blue light therapy.

In 2022, Lights of Love funded the purchase an Accuvein Vein Finder to aid nurses in locating difficult-to-visualize veins, reducing patient anxiety during IV starts. Approximately 3,000 patients now benefit from this technology annually. Additionally, the Emergency Department (ED) provided care packages to families of patients transferred to other hospitals helping to alleviate stress for approximately 500 families.
