New Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) System Introduced During National Radiologic Technology Week

HOLLAND, Mich., Nov. 7, 2024 — Holland Hospital is at the forefront of medical technology with the recent equipment upgrade and installation of the SIGNA™ Premier 3T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system, unveiled during National Radiologic Technology Week (Nov. 3-9). This advanced MRI system from GE HealthCare showcases the hospital’s commitment to delivering an enhanced patient experience.

The SIGNA Premier system features advanced AI technology, including AIR Recon DL, which delivers the highest quality image scans. Its wide-bore design accommodates patients of all sizes with more room in the scanner, while its feet-first option helps alleviate claustrophobia. Providing a more comfortable experience, AIR™ Coils wrap patients like a blanket during the scan, and finally, patients also will experience reduced exam times as a result of the streamlined system.

“Holland Hospital is committed to providing the highest quality care to its patients by being equipped with exceptional tools to serve our community,” said Steve Sorenson, AVP of Clinical Services at Holland Hospital. “The recent installation of this advanced imaging system is a testament to our commitment, and we are proud to offer this technology to patients along the lakeshore.”

In addition to the new MRI system, Holland Hospital’s Radiology services have recently made significant improvements in diagnostic radiology testing, resulting in an eliminated backlog of images and faster turnaround times for patients. Most appointment wait times are less than a week and the majority of images are read within two days. “Radiology services, with appropriate read times, are an important part of providing care to the community, and these improvements reflect our commitment in this space,” said Sorenson.

Holland Hospital is proud to offer fast read times and quick appointments at four convenient locations across West Michigan. “Holland Hospital’s ability to promptly schedule radiology exams continues to outperform others in our region,” said Joe Bonello, Vice President of Nursing Operations and Chief Nursing Officer at Holland Hospital. The hospital features locations in Holland, Zeeland, Saugatuck, and Hudsonville (coming 2025).
