Holland Hospital is the only hospital in Michigan to receive the Outpatient Joint Replacement Excellence Award and the Outpatient Orthopedic Surgery Excellence Award in 2026
HOLLAND, Mich., Oct. 28, 2025 — Holland Hospital proudly announced today that it has achieved numerous national distinctions for outpatient orthopedic care from Healthgrades, including the Healthgrades Outpatient Joint Replacement Excellence Award™ and the Healthgrades Outpatient Orthopedic Surgery Excellence Award™ for 2026. These distinctions place Holland Hospital among the Top 10% in the nation for both Outpatient Joint Replacement and Outpatient Orthopedic Surgery for three years in a row (2024-2026).
Holland Hospital is the only hospital in Michigan to receive both the Outpatient Joint Replacement Excellence Award and the Outpatient Orthopedic Surgery Excellence Award in 2026. The hospital also received Five-Star Ratings for several services, including:
- Hip Fracture Treatments (2026)
- Colorectal Surgeries (2026)
- Outpatient Total Knee Replacement for three consecutive years (2024–2026)

To identify the top-performing hospitals for the most common outpatient procedures and conditions, Healthgrades focused exclusively on what matters most: patient outcomes. As part of its 2026 analysis, Healthgrades evaluated risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates at short-term acute care facilities that perform critical orthopedic procedures in an outpatient environment.
Healthgrades found that patients treated at hospitals with nationally recognized outpatient programs from 2022 through 2024 had a demonstrably better chance of a positive outcome than those treated at hospitals that were not recognized for outpatient excellence. In fact, if all hospitals, as a group, performed similarly to five-star hospitals, on average, 36,678 complications could have been avoided during the three-year study period.*
