The 2025 Outstanding Patient Experience Award recognizes Holland Hospital as the only recipient in West Michigan for 17 consecutive years.
HOLLAND, Mich., May 13, 2025 — Demonstrating an unwavering dedication to exceptional patient care, Holland Hospital proudly announced today that it has been recognized as a 2025 Outstanding Patient Experience Award™ recipient by Healthgrades. This significant achievement reflects Holland Hospital's commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care, positioning the organization within the top 10% of hospitals nationwide for patient experience.
Holland Hospital is the only hospital in West Michigan1 to earn the Outstanding Patient Experience Award 17 years in a row (2009-2025) and one of only two hospitals in the entire state to reach this milestone, according to Healthgrades, the leading source of health care quality information for consumers.

Reflecting a commitment to safe, high-quality care, Holland Hospital's consistent patient experience accolades join other recent Healthgrades honors, including #1 rankings in Michigan for Surgical Care and Orthopedic Surgery in January 2024 and national recognition in Surgical Care, Orthopedic Surgery, and Joint Replacement in October 2023.
Holland Hospital’s superior workforce is a major contributing factor to this ongoing success. Each year, Healthgrades recognizes the top hospitals nationwide that provide an exceptional experience for their patients during their hospital stay. As part of its annual analysis, Healthgrades evaluated more than 3,000 hospitals that submitted at least 100 Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) surveys, covering admissions from January 2023 to December 2023.
To determine the recipients of the Outstanding Patient Experience Award, Healthgrades applies a scoring methodology to ten patient experience measures. These measures focus on patients’ perceptions of their hospital care, including staff communication, medication explanations, and cleanliness. Holland Hospital’s Outstanding Patient Experience Award is the direct result of positive patient feedback in these critical areas.
