Kayla Rotman is a licensed medical social worker and outpatient behavioral health therapist at Holland Hospital. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in child development and psychology from Central Michigan University and her master’s degree in social work from Grand Valley State University. In her free time, Kayla enjoys spending time with her kids, reading, gardening and cooking.
Last year’s World Mental Health Report found that one in eight people live with a mental health condition. For many, the COVID-19 pandemic and other current events have exacerbated those conditions. Rates of depression and anxiety have increased by 25% since last year, and US teen population—especially teenage girls—are the most impacted demographic.
