Educational Opportunities

Clinical Rotations

Clinical rotations are supervised, hands-on learning experiences in hospitals and physician offices, where students apply classroom knowledge while caring for patients. Guided by licensed health care professionals, students develop the clinical skills, professional judgment, communication and confidence needed to deliver safe, compassionate, evidence-based care.

We are proud to partner with a consortium of local schools to coordinate clinical rotations for nursing students. By providing meaningful learning opportunities in real-world care settings, we help prepare the next generation of nurses while supporting our commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care and healthier communities.

Internships/Externships

Internships and externships provide students with structured, supervised opportunities to gain hands-on experience in a specific department or office. Through meaningful projects and real-world learning experiences, students build professional skills, explore career interests, and gain valuable insight into health care while working alongside experienced professionals.

Available opportunities are posted on our Careers page and can be found by searching the keywords “internship” or “externship.” Students are encouraged to create an account and sign up for email alerts to stay informed about new opportunities as they become available.

Internship and externship opportunities are identified by individual departments based on organizational needs. Most opportunities take place during the summer, with postings beginning as early as January.
Students completing an internship or externship as part of a course or curriculum requirement should complete an interest form to begin the process.

Job Shadows

Job shadows provide students with an opportunity to explore a career field through a short-term, observational experience. During a job shadow, students spend time with a professional, learn about their role, observe daily responsibilities and gain insight into the skills and environment required for the profession.

Job shadows are limited to one day, up to eight hours and are designed to provide career awareness and exposure. These experiences do not include hands-on participation or direct patient care. Job shadows are typically available Monday through Friday.

Scholarships

Holland Hospital is committed to supporting the next generation of health care professionals by offering scholarship opportunities that help students and staff pursue their educational goals and prepare them for careers in health care. Scholarships may help offset tuition, fees and other education-related expenses. Availability, award amounts and eligibility requirements vary by program and may change each year.
