Priscilla Becker and her late husband, Raymond, made Holland their home in 2015. Raymond dedicated 38 years to the Greater Kalamazoo Association of Realtors, earning numerous awards for his contributions and establishing himself as a respected community leader.

Soon after their move to Holland, Raymond experienced a fall and received treatment at Holland Hospital. When his wound showed no signs of healing, his doctor approved treatment in a hyperbaric chamber. As this specialized care was unavailable along the lakeshore, he was referred to a partner health organization. For 19 days, the Beckers traveled back and forth to Grand Rapids for his treatment, which ultimately helped his wound heal. Sadly, Raymond passed away in 2021 due to unrelated health factors.

Priscilla & Raymond Becker

Following Raymond’s death, Priscilla felt compelled to make a difference for lakeshore families requiring wound care treatment. At the end of 2024, she made a generous gift to Holland Hospital. "In loving memory of my husband, Raymond C. Becker, a new Hyperbaric Room will open at Holland Hospital," says Priscilla. "This new facility will benefit local patients for many years to come."

Holland Hospital is currently navigating the regulatory process to establish this new treatment service and looks forward to serving patients in the future. Holland Hospital and its leaders are deeply grateful for Priscilla’s vision and generosity. Priscilla inspires us to make a positive difference by asking, "What can you do to improve the world?"

Holland Hospital also is fortunate to welcome  Lee Ruotsi, MD, as the new medical director for Holland Hospital Wound Care. Dr. Ruotsi most recently served as medical director of the wound healing and hyperbaric medicine program at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, NY. His prior experience includes teaching positions in multiple residency programs and directing the Wound Care Fellowship at Catholic Health System Hospitals in Buffalo, NY.

Dr. Ruotsi holds numerous certifications, including Certified Diving Medical Officer by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). He continues to lecture nationally and internationally on wound care and hyperbaric medicine.
