Holland Hospital Receives American College of Cardiology Award for Cardiac Care

For a seventh consecutive year, Holland Hospital has been recognized with a Gold Performance Achievement Award presented by the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR ACTION Registry.  Holland Hospital is one of only 78 hospitals nationwide to receive the honor in 2015.

The ACTION Registry–GWTG Gold Performance Achievement Award recognizes hospitals that have sustained high performance levels in the treatment of heart attack patients, following the guidelines set by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association.

“Consistently achieving this high level of performance and outcomes reflects the exceptional skill, coordination and competence of our treatment team,” says Todd Knight, MSN, RN, CVRN; the Director of Invasive/Interventional Procedures at Holland Hospital.  “The community should be assured knowing that we can provide this high level of heart care services locally.”

The Centers for Disease Control estimates that over 700,000 Americans suffer a heart attack each year. A heart attack occurs when a blood clot in a coronary artery partially or completely blocks blood flow to the heart muscle.

“The American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association commend Holland Hospital for its success in implementing standards of care and protocols,” said James Jollis, MD, FACC, ACTION Registry-GWTG Chair and Professor of Medicine and Radiology at Duke University Hospital.  “The full implementation of acute and secondary prevention guideline-recommended therapy is a critical step in saving the lives and improving outcomes of heart attack patients.”
