Holland, MI - The National Diabetes Prevention Program, offered by Holland Hospital’s Center for Good Health, is being recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The CDC has given the program "full recognition," a designation which the CDC says is reserved for programs that have effectively delivered a quality, evidenced-based program that meets all of the standards for CDC recognition.
“We are honored to receive this designation for delivery of this high quality national level program," states Jodi Gogolin, Director of Community Outreach at Holland Hospital. "Our goal is to prevent Type 2 diabetes, and our diabetes prevention program brings an evidence-based lifestyle change program right to our local communities.”
More than one third of Michigan adults are at risk for type 2 diabetes, but most are unaware of it. Knowing your risk is the best defense against this largely preventable chronic illness.
"The good news is that type 2 diabetes is largely preventable through exercise and dietary changes," explains Gogolin. "This program works with participants to make lifestyle changes by incorporating healthier eating and physical activity into their daily lives."
If you have been diagnosed with prediabetes or are at risk for prediabetes due to weight and inactivity, this program can help.
