Holland Hospital RN Scholarship Program

Nurturing Your Calling

Looking for a profession where you can nurture others, yourself and your career? Nursing is so much more than a job. It's a remarkable calling.

Beyond making a difference in people's lives every day, a career in nursing provides solid earning potential, diverse roles and niches, ongoing advancement options, and work-life balance. Plus, it's a highly respected profession in high demand. In fact, there are currently more open RN positions than qualified candidates to fill them, so becoming a registered nurse means enjoying job security.

Between 2016 and 2026, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts employment of RNs to rise 15 percent. That's significantly faster than the average for all occupations. As the baby boomer generation ages, and the health care industry continues to change and progress, the opportunities for RNs only stand to grow.

Fueling Your Dreams

To help fund the education and fuel the dreams of tomorrow's nurses, Holland Hospital offers scholarships to Ottawa County high school seniors who will become full-time students in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at an accredited institution of higher learning. Those selected will be awarded $7,000 paid out in four increments over their four-year BSN degree. Application requirements include:

  • A completed online or paper application
  • A 300-word essay describing motivations for pursuing a career in nursing
  • High-school transcript
  • Standardized test results (ACT/SAT)
  • Letters of recommendation
  • List of other financial aid or awarded scholarships

The window to apply for the 2021 scholarship is now closed.
