Holland Hospital first introduced the Lakeshore area to robotic-assisted surgery in 2007. Now, the hospital has upgraded to the latest advanced surgical robot, the daVinci Si. Holland Hospital's board-certified urologists and OB/GYNs are specialists in daVinci® Robotic Assisted Surgery. Our trained surgeons use this state-of-the-art system to perform minimally invasive surgeries using smaller incisions which generally result in less pain, shorter hospitalization, less scarring, and faster return to normal activities.
An important new feature of the daVinci Si is the ability to perform single-site surgery-a virtually scar-free procedure which requires only one incision in the navel (belly button.) Another technology is integrated fluorescence imaging that allows the surgeon to see tissues in ways not possible with the naked eye. This helps guide the surgeon during procedures that involve highly delicate structures.
Robotic-assisted surgery enhances the surgeon's ability to perform minimally invasive procedures when compared to laparoscopic or traditional "open" surgery.
