While You're in the Hospital

All patients are issued wrist bands at admission. The bar code on your band enables hospital staff to positively identify you with one swipe of a scanner. It also provides your date of birth, medical record number, what tests are needed, and other necessary information. You may
receive other bands as well and should wear them at all times while at
Holland Hospital provides language services for clinical interpretation free of charge to Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients and those with sensory limitations, including deaf and blind individuals, who request interpretation assistance. These services are available at all times at all Holland Hospital locations 24 hours a day, free of charge, upon patient request. Bilingual hospital staff may interpret. Patients may also request a family member, friend, or minor to interpret. Holland Hospital will ensure that all vital documents are translated accurately into the primary language of LEP patients.
Phones & Internet
Telephones are provided in each room for patients to use at any time. The hospital switchboard will transfer incoming calls to patient rooms between 7 am and 10 pm. For your privacy, operators are not permitted to give your phone number or room number to callers; however, you may share your phone number with family and friends so they can call you directly.
Cell phones and personal transmitting devices (pagers, PDAs, etc.) may not be used in any patient care area and should be turned off.
Wi-Fi is available to patients and guests in all areas of the hospital. You are welcome to bring your own laptop or tablet.
Wholesome, nourishing and well-balanced meals are an important part of
treatment and recovery. Holland Hospital’s Food & Nutrition Services
provides nutritious meals that fulfill patients’ diets as prescribed by
their doctor. Meals are monitored by a registered dietitian.
During your hospital stay, a Food & Nutrition staff member will visit you daily to take your menu order. Each day there is a variety
of main entrees, side dishes, snacks and beverages to choose from. Consideration will be given to special diets and preferences. If you wish to discuss any dietary needs or options, a registered dietitian is available to meet with you.
On most hospital units, meals are served according to the following schedule:
Breakfast: 7 am–10 am
Lunch: 11:45 am–2 pm
Dinner: 4:45 pm–6 pm
Family members and friends are welcome to join you at mealtime;
they can bring meal trays from the Café or Coffee Cove to your room.
