While You're in the Hospital

We look forward to working with you and your family to provide a safe, restful and healthy environment for your stay.

Room assignment is based on your admitting diagnosis and the bed availability on the day you arrive. Private (single bed) and semi-private (two beds) rooms are available. Whenever possible, we will attempt to honor requests for specific room accommodations.

All patients are issued wrist bands at admission. The bar code on your band enables hospital staff to positively identify you with one swipe of a scanner. It also provides your date of birth, medical record number, what tests are needed, and other necessary information. You may receive other bands as well and should wear them at all times while at the hospital.

Phones & Wi-Fi

Telephones are provided in each room for patients to use at any time. The hospital switchboard will transfer incoming calls to patient rooms between 7 am and 10 pm. For your privacy, operators are not permitted to give your phone number or room number to callers; however, you may share your phone number with family and friends so they can call you directly.

Cell phones and personal transmitting devices (pagers, PDAs, etc.) may not be used in any patient care area and should be turned off.

Wi-Fi is available to patients and guests in all areas of the hospital. You are welcome to bring your own laptop or tablet.

Meals

Wholesome, nourishing and well-balanced meals are an important part of treatment and recovery. Holland Hospital’s Food & Nutrition Services provides nutritious meals that fulfill patients’ diets as prescribed by their doctor. Meals are monitored by a registered dietitian.

During your hospital stay, a Food & Nutrition staff member will visit you daily to take your menu order. Each day there is a variety of main entrees, side dishes, snacks and beverages to choose from. Consideration will be given to special diets and preferences. If you wish to discuss any dietary needs or options, a registered dietitian is available to meet with you.

On most hospital units, meals are served according to the following schedule:
Breakfast: 7 am–10 am
Lunch: 11:45 am–2 pm
Dinner: 4:45 pm–6 pm

Family members and friends are welcome to join you at mealtime; they can bring meal trays from the Café or Coffee Cove to your room.
