Care for the Body, Mind and Spirit
Holland Hospital is committed to caring for the whole person—body, mind and spirit. Our Spiritual Care Services offer spiritual care for families and their loved ones, link them to their own faith communities, and create a healing environment.
Chaplains and Clergy
On-staff chaplains are available 24 hours a day to provide spiritual
assistance, sacramental ministries, advance directive consultation,
consultation concerning ethical care, and other services. They are also available to sit and talk or offer a listening ear. Chaplains and clergy offer care for those who have a faith
community as well as those with no formal religious affiliation.
If you would like to contact a chaplain during daytime hours, call (616) 394-3362. After 5 pm or on weekends,
your nurse can contact the on-call chaplain. If
requested, chaplains will also contact your pastor, priest, rabbi or
congregation representative to let them know you are a patient here.
Sacred texts including Christian, Jewish and Muslim texts of faith are available for your use while in the hospital. Ask your nurse or one of the chaplains if the text you need is not at the bedside.
Chapel of Hope & Healing Garden
Patients and guests are welcome to visit the hospital’s Chapel of Hope for prayer or meditation at any time. The chapel is a place of serenity for all people, regardless of faith or religion. It is located off the lobby across from the Gift Shop. Adjacent to the Chapel is the Healing Garden, a plant-filled atrium offering a tranquil retreat for those who seek solitude or simply enjoy nature.
