Pet Therapy— HEALING WITH Smiles!
We call them our "four-legged doctors.” These well-behaved dogs make regular visits to patients who agree to see them. All dogs and their handlers are licensed through Therapy Dogs, Inc. See Pet Therapy story in Healthy Life magazine.
Music to Heal By
CD Library |
Every patient room has a compact disc (CD) player. A menu of music is available to you through our CD lending library. Music heals — it’s proven! |
Volunteer Musicians |
Live performances occur frequently throughout the hospital. Contact us if you are interested in volunteering your gift of music; call (616) 494-4212 or e-mail healingenvironment@hoho.org |
Brahms Lullaby |
Announce your infant’s birth through music! Lift the spirits of patients, visitors and staff simply by pressing the button on the Story Book Stork located across from the nursery. When heard, people can’t help but pause and think about what a joy a new little life really is. |
Ambient Music |
Enjoy music in the upper level lobby and hallways, while dining in the Café, or spending time in the Chapel of Hope. |

C.A.R.E. Channel 78
At Channel 78 on all hospital televisions. Provides beautiful nature imagery accompanied by soft instrumental music composed specifically to provide a restful, healing environment. The continuous stream of moving images are sensitive to the day and night cycle (with twinkling starfields at night). C.A.R.E. Channel 78 (short for Continuous Ambient Relaxation Environment) is intended to assist patients, families and staff in managing stress, illness and recovery. More>
Art For The Soul
Art supplies are available for patients to participate in creative art; volunteers make rounds on the hospital floors to deliver supplies. To see an amazing exhibit by local "Friends of Art" artists, visit the lower level just inside the visitors' entrance; the show changes monthly. And not to be missed, on display throughout the hospital is our permanent art collection, also featuring many local artists.
