Holland Hospital Emergency Services is ready to serve you and your loved ones — every moment of every day. Each year we handle more than 60,000 patient visits to the Emergency Department and Urgent Care, formerly our Prime Care center located at the Lakeshore Medical Campus. Every patient is priority one at Holland Hospital.
Expertise, Technology and Personal Care
Our Emergency Department has 43 private exam rooms, including three specially equipped trauma rooms. The ED staff includes 15 board-certified emergency physicians and a skilled nursing team trained in cardiac, trauma and pediatric medicine. Social service experts are available for consultation on a variety of situations. Holland Hospital is also among the few hospitals in West Michigan certified to treat heart attack patients with emergency angioplasty and other cardio-vascular techniques that help save lives.
24-Hour Emergency Care
Go to the Emergency Department or call 911 for:
- heart attack or stroke symptoms (chest pain, severe abdominal pain, dizziness, numbness in face, neck, arm or leg, sudden severe headache, sudden blurred vision or difficulty speaking)
- head injury or broken bones
- sudden servere headache

- severe shortness of breath
- seizure or loss of consciousness
- uncontrolled bleeding
- major burns
- poisoning or suspected overdose
- severe reaction to an insect bite, medication or food

Urgent Care
For situations that require immediate medical attention but are not life-threatening, visit Urgent Care, Holland Hospital’s walk-in urgent care service located on the north side of Holland. Urgent Care patients are generally treated on a first-come, first-serve basis.
In general, Urgent Care is recommended for patients with:
