Community Outreach Department

The Community Outreach Department fulfills Holland Hospital’s mission to “continually improve the health of the communities we serve” by offering a variety of programs that promote a healthy lifestyle. The focus of many Outreach activities is on enhancing childhood well-being and cardiovascular health through programs at work sites, schools, churches, and in the community. Programs and services include:
The Center for Good Health
A comprehensive program of classes, seminars, support groups and wellness programs to help participants take control of their health. All activities are open to the public.
For more information on Center for Good Health programs, call (616) 394-3344.
CHEER
Short for Congestive Heart Education Evaluation Resource, CHEER is a program run by registered nurses who specialize in heart failure. Nurses work directly with doctors to monitor patients' health and help them make changes that will improve their health.
For more information on the CHEER program, call (616) 494-4031.
School Nursing
Registered nurses and health aides take day-to-day health care services to area schools to promote health and wellness, prevent diseases and injury, assist children who are in need or at risk, and provide in-school case management for those who have health care needs such as diabetes and asthma. The goal of the program is to give children the tools they need to develop healthy lifestyle habits and enhance their learning.
Currently, the School Nursing Program is the sole provider of in-school health education at six area elementary schools in Holland and West Ottawa public schools. For more information on School Nursing, call (616) 394-3486.
Ottawa County Wellness Coalition
The Community Outreach Department is also actively involved with other organizations to continually improve the health of the community. As a member of the Ottawa County Wellness Coalition (OCWC), Holland Hospital supports societal changes that improve health and encourage healthy lifestyles. Learn more about the OCWC.
