How long will I stay in the hospital after my baby is born?
The actual decision about how long you will stay in the hospital is made by your physician and you. Your physician will determine if your length of stay will be longer based on your need for continuing medical and nursing care. The time you go home depends on the time of day the baby was born and whether or not you are experiencing any complications.
Will I be in the same room before and after I give birth?
Yes, in most cases. Most of our rooms are designed for labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum, so you can stay in one place throughout the birth experience.
Will my baby stay with me in my room?
As much as possible. We know the importance of bonding between you and your newborn, so we make every effort to have you together as often as possible. Your baby will be placed in your arms as soon as he or she is born, and you will be able to begin breastfeeding as soon as you wish within the first hour.
How do you handle relieving my pain?
Feeling safe and respected are two great ways to promote relaxation and alleviate pain. Our rooms are designed to allow those who are closest to you to give you emotional support throughout the experience. We offer hydrotherapy in a whirlpool and oversized showers to promote muscle relaxation. And, when necessary, we administer medication that you and your doctor have agreed on. In short, we'll do everything we can to make your birth experience as pleasant as possible.
How involved can the father be?
Under normal circumstances, the father can be as involved in your child's birth as you decide. Our rooms are designed to allow a private experience for those you choose to be part of the birth experience.
How can you help me with breastfeeding?
Our board certified lactation consultants to new mothers with breastfeeding. They answer your questions, help you get started and provide important information about nursing your baby. They are just a phone call away if you should need them when you return home. Breastfeeding is the healthiest way to promote nutrition and a close bond between you and your baby.
