Recovery & Rehabilitation

While each patient is different, the goal is for you to recover from your knee surgery in the comfort of your own home as soon as possible. Most patients prefer to have family members and friends close-by to support them during rehabilitation.

If special assistance such as medical equipment rental, home nursing care, outpatient therapy or a stay in a skilled nursing facility are required, we will work with you to coordinate the details. Your home situation, mobility, medical condition and the availability of family assistance may influence the discharge plan.

We employ a "multi-modal" approach to pain management. This means we attack the pain from many different angles to help keep your pain at a manageable level and continue your participation in rehabilitation activities.

Different techniques are used including a variety of pain medications, anti-inflammatory medications and medications to relieve muscle spasms. We also incorporate non-medication techniques to help manage pain.
