Patient-Centered Family-Centered Care
Our ICU/TU doctors and nurses make it a priority to keep patients and their families up to date with regard to test results, treatment plans, and next steps.
As much as possible, patients and their advocates actively participate in the evaluation of treatment options and decision-making. In the Intensive Care and Telemetry Unit, visitors become part of their loved one's care team and part of our family. We welcome family and friends in the department any time, day or night. In addition to private, family-friendly rooms, ICU offers a visitors lounge with comfortable seating, a vending area and even a shower. Smaller waiting areas give family members a private place to meet with physicians and other caregivers.
A patient's arrival in the ICU/TU is almost always an unexpected event and likely very concerning to them and their loved ones. Our compassionate caregivers are committed to getting to know each patient and family, and appreciating what makes them special. When our patients are strong enough to return home, we continue to offer whatever support may be necessary, such as rehabilitation or education about lifestyle changes.
