Holland Hospital Comprehensive Breast Services has a team of experienced and highly skilled surgeons.
Holland Hospital has formed a collaborative Breast Surgical Oncology Team of surgeons with a special interest and commitment to breast surgery. These surgeons work collaboratively through weekly case discussions for enhanced care and are committed to annual continued education, specifically related to breast cancer care.
Types of breast surgery performed include:
- Sentinel Node Biopsy: removal of the lymph node closest to your breast tumor for testing
- Lymph Node Surgery: removal of one or more additional lymph nodes to determine if cancer has spread
- Lumpectomy: removal of a breast lump and surrounding margin of tissue
- Mastectomy: removal of the entire breast and nipple sparing, if possible
- Breast Reconstruction: performed by a plastic surgeon, breast reconstruction can help restore the look and feel of breast

For nearly 30 years, Dr. Pettinga has dedicated her medical career to surgical breast oncology and diseases of the breast, pioneering the way in this specialty. Dr. Pettinga is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a certified fellow by the American Board of Surgery and member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and Society for the Study of Breast Disease. Dr. Visser graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He specializes in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery with a special interest in Breast Surgery. He speaks English and Spanish. Dr. Dodde's decision to pursue plastic surgery came from his passion and talent for art, as well as his desire to improve people’s lives. Being a sculptor gives him a unique perspective on plastic surgery. He has an innate awareness of form and a meticulous eye for detail. Dr. Dodde is a board-certified plastic surgery through the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and is trained in all aspects of the specialty including reconstructive surgery. Dr. Looby joins Holland Hospital’s Comprehensive Breast Services multidisciplinary team to offer plastic, reconstructive and microsurgery options for breast cancer patients. Dr. Looby received his medical degree from Ohio University – College of Osteopathic Medicine and is board certified in General Surgery. Dr. Looby did his fellowship in Craniofacial Surgery at Standford University Medical Center.
