The National Diabetes Prevention Program is proven to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes and Holland Hospital is one of the few locations in the area offering this program.

More than 1/3 of Michigan adults are at risk for type 2 diabetes. this highly effective year program focuses on lifestyle changes that are proven to help prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes.

The program is based on Centers for Disease Control approved curriculum and consists of 16 weekly session followed by 6 monthly sessions. The program is taught by a Certified Diabetes Educator and trained Lifestyle Coach. To participate you must be at least 18 years olf, have a BMI greater than or equal to 24, have an above-normal blood sugar level or have risk factors for developing type 2 diabetes. A physician referral is not required unless you are using HSA or Flex spending funds to cover the program cost.
