OB/GYNs, Surgeons and Physicians
Your doctor directs your care throughout your hospital stay including arrangements for medication, special diets, laboratory tests, therapy and/or other treatments. As the coordinator of your treatment program, your doctor should be consulted if you have any questions and will be included in your birth plan.
Anesthesiologists are medical doctors who provide pain relief for laboring mothers who choose to receive an epidural or spinal block as part of their birth plan.
Nurses Specializing in Obstetrics
Our nurses specialize in caring for moms and babies. They’ve committed their professional careers to providing healthy, safe birth experiences. Our nurses have a love of life that shows in their attention to every small detail. You will be treated with compassion and understanding as it is our privilege to help welcome your baby into the world.
A hospitalist is a physician who specializes in providing care for babies who need to be hospitalized. They work closely with an infant's primary care physician. Upon hospital admission, they inform your physician's office, obtain any necessary information and records, and remain in contact with your physician as needed throughout the hospital stay. Upon discharge from the hospital, they send a copy of the discharge report to your physician.
A nurse practioner is a registered nurse with advanced training, who works closely with the pediatric hospitalist to provide care for your infant.
Care managers are available to address special concerns. Your care manager may monitor progress and help with referrals to community organizations or the hospital social workers.
Our team of International Board-Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) provides expert education and support for breastfeeding moms. We understand the benefits and barriers associated with breastfeeding and want to help ensure your success. Not only will our lactation consultants support you during your hospital stay, but they offer follow-up support after you return home as well.
Parent Advocates will arm you with the parenting know-how and connections to resources you need to nurture your baby during the first months of life.
