Treatment can be initiated by the person seeking care or by a family member, physician, employer or social service agency. All referrals and admissions are kept confidential; however, every effort is made to communicate where appropriate with family members and other significant others.

Inpatient Services
Our inpatient care unit is located within Holland Hospital and provides crisis stabilization, intensive short-term treatment and medication management for patients aged 18 and older. This modern, comfortable setting is uniquely designed to help patients regain a stable situation and move to outpatient care.

Inpatient referral begins with a thorough assessment of the individual's needs and the necessity of 24-hour medical care. The length of stay depends on the nature of the person's illness and his/her response to treatment. Our focus is on short-term treatment and discharge planning begins at time of admission. Aftercare programs help maintain and enhance goals established during the inpatient stay.

Inpatient 24-access is available through the Holland Hospital Emergency Department.

The Team
Our multi-disciplinary team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, medical social workers and other mental health professionals working together and dedicated to helping you achieve a healthy, happy and rewarding life.
Free Walk-In Depression Screenings
Depression affects millions of Americans, many of whom do not seek professional treatment. People with depression may experience persistent sadness, sleep disruption, changes in appetite, loss of interest in activities, irritability and feelings of hopelessness, death or suicide. Fortunately, depression can be effectively treated with professional therapy and in some cases medication as well.

If you or someone you know is experiencing depression, stress or anxiety, Behavioral Health Services can help. Our free walk-in depressions screenings give people the opportunity to take a free questionnaire to assess their risk for mood and anxiety disorders and obtain information about treatment. Stop by our offices at 854 S. Washington Ave, Suite 330 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Monday through Friday. No appointment is needed. Call Paula Seastrom at (616) 355-3937 if you have questions.
