HUGS Security System for Newborn and Pediatric Patients
For the best possible assurance of your child’s safety, we use the newest technology in infant/child security called the HUGS Protection System. This system is in addition to the protection procedures already in place at Holland Hospital , and is designed to prevent infant abduction and provide our parents peace of mind.
How does it work?
A small tag, containing a radio transmitter and weighing less than an ounce, is placed around your child’s ankle. The hypoallergenic tags are “baby friendly” with no sharp edges or moving parts and are tamperproof, yet allow easy adjustment for your child’s comfort.
Each waterproof tag has a unique code that provides easy identification of every child.
If a child is taken too close to an exit door or if the tag is removed improperly, the unit doors will lock and an alarm will sound, alerting the staff.
For additional protection, all tags are monitored by the system on a continuous basis to ensure that they are working well. If any irregularities are noted, an alarm will sound and the problem will be immediately identified and taken care of.
The addition of this security system underscores Holland Hospital ’s commitment to provide the highest quality of care and safety for our patients and their families, young and old.
