Imaging Technology
Interventional radiology plays a critical role in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular diseases. In our state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization lab, interventional radiologists monitor blood flow through vessels and arteries to identify any blockages.

Unlike X-ray or CT scanning, which provide a series of single-frame images of the body, the cardiac catheterization technology we employ provides real-time, moving images of blood flow. In fact, Holland Hospital was the first in the state to use this technology in combination with contrast d to see how your blood flows throughout your body, even to the ends of fingertips and toes.

Atherectomy Catheter System
Holland Hospital is one of only 100 health care facilities nationwide to treat Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD) using the new atherectomy catheter system.  This advanced procedure employs a catheter-mounted rotating blade to “shave off” and collects plaque from vessel walls to improve blood flow.

Certifications
Holland Hospital is among a small group of Michigan hospitals approved and certified by the state to perform Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention This is a non-surgical procedure used to open blocked or narrowed arteries during acute heart attacks. A catheter is used to reach the blockage and to place a balloon to prop open the blocked artery. A stent is then placed to hold the artery open. Learn more about PCI.
