Holland Hospital’s Emergency Services are available immediately, 24 hours a day for any medical emergencies.  Our specially trained emergency team members provide expert, often life-saving care for patients in more than 41,500 visits each year.

The Emergency Department has 43 private exam rooms, including specially equipped trauma rooms.  The ER team includes 15 board-certified emergency physicians and a skilled nursing team trained in cardiac, trauma and pediatric medicine. A broad array of sub-specialty consultative services is available around the clock.  Social service experts are available for consultation on a variety of situations.

Holland Hospital is also one of the few hospitals in West Michigan certified to treat heart attack patients with emergency angioplasty and other cardio-vascular techniques that help save lives.

When You Must Go to the Emergency Room
If you have a real, life-threatening emergency, call 911 and seek treatment at an Emergency Department immediately.  Potentially life-threatening conditions requiring treatment in an Emergency Room include:
  • Persistent chest or abdominal pain or pressure
  • Sudden slurred speech, visual changes or weaknesses
  • Numbness or paralysis of face, arm or leg
  • Sudden severe headache
  • Uncontrollable bleeding
  • Head injury
  • Poisoning or suspected overdose
  • Inability to breathe or severe shortness of breath
  • Seizure or loss of consciousness
  • Severe reaction to an insect bite, medication or food
  • Major burns
  • Intense pain
If you believe your life may be in danger, do not take any chances:  Call 911 immediately.
For situations that require immediate medical attention but are not life-threatening, visit Holland Hospital's Urgent Care or Walk-in Care

Urgent Care: open every day 10 a.m.–10 p.m. at the Lakeshore Medical Campus on Holland’s north side.
Walk-in Care: open Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–6 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m.–2 p.m. in Zeeland at the Holland Hospital Medical Building.
