An undiagnosed hearing may impact your child’s ability to develop and learn. Even infants can be screened for hearing and vision impairments!

Your child may be having hearing problems if he/she:

  • has a history of ear infections or drainage
  • wants music, video games or TV loud
  • misunderstands or often asks to have things repeated
If your child is experiencing any of these symptoms, contact your physician.  Another option is to contact the Ottawa County Health Department  to schedule a free screening. The earlier a problem is identified, the sooner it may be corrected and permanent damage may be prevented.  Hearing screening are also mandatory prior to children entering kindergarten and can be scheduled through the Ottawa County Health Department.
